In collaboration with Abirascid Hemlin, a café in Stockholm was designed for the Swedish furniture brand Contem. The interior concept is shaped around the use of elm wood—sourced from trees affected by Dutch elm disease—and reflects Contem’s approach to sustainability. The material, processed from trees that had to be removed, was used to produce sculptural elements that combine tactile presence and functional use.

These pieces are positioned within a raw interior space and establish points of interaction through surface, form, and material expression. Bespoke furniture by Contem complements the elm wood elements and defines the spatial atmosphere.

The design avoids nostalgic references and instead creates an abstract and timeless setting. The café invites visitors to engage with the materials and spatial composition while referencing Contem’s design philosophy through its reduced and coordinated use of form and texture.
